National Minimum Wage 2014/15 Australia

Australian national minimum wage rates from July 1st, 2014..

Adults Full Time

First Three Months

$16.87 per hour ($640.90 per 38 hr week)

After Three Months

$18.02 per hour ($684.70 per 38 hr week)

Level 1 Adult Minimum Wage

An employee at this level has been employed for a period of less than three months and is not carrying out the duties of a level 3 or level 4 employee.

Minimum Wage $640.90 per week $16.87 per hour

Level 2 Adult Minimum Wage

An employee at this level has been employed for more than three months and is not carrying out the duties of a level 3 or level 4 employee.

Minimum Wage $684.70 per week $18.02 per hour

Level 3 Adult Minimum Wage

An employee at this level has a trade qualification or equivalent and is carrying out duties requiring such qualifications.

Minimum Wage $746.20 per week $19.64 per hour

Level 4 Adult Minimum Wage

An employee at this level has advanced trade qualifications and is carrying out duties requiring such qualifications or is a sub-professional employee.

Minimum Wage $814.20 per week $21.43 per hour

Adults Casual rate

Casual employees covered by the national minimum wage also get at least a 25 per cent casual loading.

$21.08 per hour ($801.32 per 38 hr week) (an additional 25% to cover holiday pay etc)

Juniors: (all rates per hour)

Juniors must be paid a minimum of the following percentage of the standard rate:

36.8% Under 16 years of age $6.21
47.3% at 16 years of age $7.98
57.8% at 17 years of age $9.75
68.3% at 18 years of age $11.52
82.5% at 19 years of age $13.92
97.7% at 20 years of age $16.48

Apprentices

An apprentice must be paid a minimum of the following percentage of the standard rate:

55% First Year Apprentice $9.28
65% Second Year Apprentice $10.97
80% Third Year Apprentice $13.50
95% Fourth Year Apprentice $16.03
