How long can a Tourist stay in Thailand?..
That question does confuse some people, and we see many answers.
For example:
From the Thai Embassy website:
3. Validity of a visa
The validity of a visa is 3 months (single entry) or 6 months (double or triple entries)
So, is the answer is up to 6 months with option to go in and out 2 or 3 times?
or
Upon arrival, travelers with a Thai Tourist Visa will be permitted to stay in Thailand for a period of not exceeding 60 days.
Which answer is right?
The explanation:
A person CAN get a 6 month Visa to visit Thailand, BUT, that person must leave Thailand at least every 60 days, and come back in again after getting a border extension.
So:
- You can get a 6 month Tourist Visa
- You can only stay in Thailand for up to 60 days at a time
- It is possible to get a 30 day extension at an Immigration Office without leaving the country. This makes 90 days without leaving the country.
