The Blue Mountains are at the western most point of the Greater Sydney region, with a distance of about 110 kms between Sydney CBD and Katoomba (The main suburb of the Blue Mountains City). This is about a 90 minute average drive.
The highest point of the Blue Mountains is Mount Werong at 1,215 m. Mount Boyce, 2 kilometres north of Blackheath, is the next highest point at 1,093 metres above sea level. About 70% of the area is incorporated into the World Heritage Blue Mountains National Park.
