Coal responsible for 46% of carbon emissions


Coal and Carbon Emissions..

Coal is responsible for 46 per cent of global carbon dioxide emissions according to the International Energy Agency (IEA).

From their Coal 2019 report:

Coal remains a major fuel in global energy systems, accounting for almost 40% of electricity generation and more than 40% of energy-related carbon dioxide emissions.

Over the next five years, global coal demand is forecast to remain stable, supported by the resilient Chinese market, which accounts for half of global consumption.
