It is being reported that 60 UK Members of Parliament will not seek re-election in the 2019 General Election.
Many reports are stating that Brexit is the cause of this, but, is it?
How does this actually compare to earlier years?
Between the 1979 and 2015 general elections there was an average of 86 MPs standing down each time.
In 2015 there were 90 sitting members that choose not to stand for re-election.
But in 2017 it was only 31 that decided not to stand.
