Eye Prescription OS and OD, Left and Right eye

What does OS and OD mean on an Eye Prescription?..

For an eyeglass prescription you might get numbers listed under the headings of OS and OD.

Sometimes you might see the same numbers marked as Left eye and Right eye.

Latin translation:

  • OS (oculus sinister) translates to left eye
  • OD (oculus dextrus) translates to right eye.

Now you know: OS = Left eye, and OD = Right eye.
