Iceland has tested 10% of its population for the coronavirus COVID-19.
35,488 people have been tested for the novel coronavirus in Iceland, representing 10% of the country’s population. This is the 2nd highest testing rate at 106,490 tests per million population. Faeroe Islands at 116,182 is the only country with a higher test rate.
1,711 cases of the disease have been confirmed, according to covid.is, and 933 of these have been confirmed as recovered.
40 people are currently hospitalised, with 9 in intensive care.
Iceland has had 8 COVID-19 deaths.
Countries with much higher numbers of tests have a much lower testing rate.
For example:
- USA had 3,100,387 tests at a rate of 9,367 tests per million.
- UK had 382,650 tests at a rate of 5,637 tests per million.
- Australia had 371,377 tests at a rate of 14,564 tests per million.
- Iceland had 36,339 tests at a rate of 106,490 tests per million.
