Jeremy Corbyn, Leader of the Opposition, and the Monarchy..

In 1996, Jeremy Corbyn seconded the Commonwealth of Britain Bill (introduced by the late Tony Benn), which sought to establish a Republic and abolish the monarchy.

In 1998, Jeremy Corbyn stated that he believes the royal ceremony for the State Opening of Parliament should be abolished.
