Spelling: Equalled or Equaled?

My spell checker told me that Equalled was wrong, it underlined it in Red..

So I checked the Oxford Advanced Learner’s Dictionary, and here are their example uses of the word:

  • This achievement is unlikely ever to be equalled.
  • Her hatred of religion is equalled only by her loathing for politicians.
  • With his last jump he equalled the world record.

I am relieved, I wasn’t wrong. My only problem is that I use English, from England, and the automatic spell checker uses American !!

I coloured the word in red 😉  Ooops, another spell check warning, saying it should be colored  !!
