The word ‘startup’ relates to many things and is a common word used for new businesses when they startup, and for new websites in the startup phase, as just two examples.
But.. on the 27th August 2013, the big Apple corporation decided that it wanted the word for itself.
Baker & McKenzie, a multinational legal firm, applied in Sydney Australia, on behalf of Apple, an Australian trade mark application for the term ‘STARTUP’.
What happens if it is approved ? Do we need to find a new word to replace startup ?
