UK State Pension Increases 2016-2023


Annual UK New State Pension Increases.

The UK State pension is increased each year in April.

Payments are increased each year by whichever rate is the higher from these three:

  • CPI inflation.
  • average earnings growth.
  • 2.5% The minimum annual increase.

The percentage rise each year, together with the related inflation rate, has been:

  • 10.1% rise in 2023, related inflation was 10.1%
  • 3.1% rise in 2022, related inflation was 3.1%
  • 2.5% rise in 2021, related inflation was 0.5%
  • 3.9% rise in 2020, related inflation was 1.7%
  • 2.6% rise in 2019, related inflation was 2.4%
  • 3.0% rise in 2018, related inflation was 3.0%
  • 2.5% rise in 2017, related inflation was 1.0%
  • 2.9% rise in 2016, related inflation was -0.1%
