In 2023, the US military spent approximately $820.3 billion, or roughly 13.3% of the entire federal budget for that fiscal year.
2024 US Military Budget.
In March 2023, the Department of Defense (DoD) requested $842.2 billion for the 2024 fiscal year, and were allocated $841.4 billion on December 22, 2023.
With the population of the US being about 345 million, that $841.4 billion works out at around $2,400 per person.
This was divided as follows:
- $216.1 billion – Air Force.
- $202.6 billion – Navy.
- $165.6 billion – Army.
- $53.2 billion – Marine Corps.
- $32.9 billion – National Guard.
- $30.1 billion – Space Force.
