Queen Victoria spoke German, was she a German?..
The answer to that would depend on how you define ‘German’..
Queen Victoria was born in England, and so was her father and her Grandfather. That would basically make her British.
- Queen Victoria was born on 24th May 1819 at Kensington Palace, London, England, UK
- Queen Victoria’s father was Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, and he was born on 2nd November 1767 at Buckingham House, London, England, UK
- Queen Victoria’s grandfather was George III, and he was born on 4th June 1738 at Norfolk House, London, England, UK
… - Queen Victoria’s great-great-great-great-great grandfather was James VI and I, King of Scotland, England, and Ireland, he was born on 19 June 1566 at Edinburgh Castle, Scotland.
They say that George I (the Great Grandson of the British King James VI and I) was mostly German because he was born in Germany.
(Queen Victoria, being born in the UK, must therefore be mostly British.)
George I (the Great Grandson of the British King James VI and I), but born in Hanover, Holy Roman Empire, was Queen Victoria’s great-great-grandfather.
