Donald Trump says he was being “sarcastic” with his disinfectant comment, when he he said “is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?”
I thought it was more of a question rather than a sarcastic comment.
The one thing I am aware of is that it WAS NOT an instruction to inject yourself with a disinfectant.
Donald Trump’s actual words, when turning to Dr Deborah Birx, the White House coronavirus response coordinator:
“And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning?
“So it’d be interesting to check that.”
Pointing to his head, Mr Trump went on: “I‘m not a doctor. But I’m, like, a person that has a good you-know-what.”
Many Americans appear to have thought that he was telling them it was safe to inject themselves with disinfectant, even though he didn’t.
So I suppose they would also believe he was being sarcastic, even though it didn’t sound like he was.
